Blue Sky Studios does a great job of balancing actual natural history with animation. In the first two Ice Age movies, the backgrounds were a challenge of getting visual interest into snow and ice, and they did a great job. But the backgrounds, or "environments" as they are properly called, of Ice Age 3 is their best.
There is plenty of tropical foliage, including palm trees, and if you look very carefully, you will see a cycad with a purple cone. Cool.
